Unjust: How the Broken Criminal Justice System Fails LGBT People

Thursday, March 31st · 4:00pm — 5:10pm

LGBT people are overrepresented in the U.S. criminal justice system. A report released in early 2016 highlights the drivers of increased incarceration for LGBT people, the treatment of LGBT people within the justice system and in prisons, jails, and immigration detention facilities, and the barriers LGBT people with criminal records face when trying to rebuild their lives.

During this table talk, speakers will discuss the key issues facing LGBT people and their interactions with the criminal justice system and share innovative work happening across the LGBT movement and beyond to ensure justice for LGBT people. Participants will also have an opportunity think strategically about how to intersect with a strong, progressive campaign pushing for criminal justice reform more broadly in the United States.
