Organizer(s): Bolder Giving, in partnership with Funders for LGBTQ Issues, Hispanics In Philanthropy, & OutGiving
October 17, 2013
12:00 PM ET
Philanthropy comes in many forms. For Catherine M. Pino and Ingrid Duran, their giving is informed by their roots in New Mexico and East LA, respectively. Catherine started giving as a child through her church and Ingrid became active by growing up in the Chicano movement attending farmworker rallies and never forgetting where she came. And when you combine the two, the impact is positively explosive.
Together, Catherine and Ingrid co-created D & P Creative Strategies in 2004, a company that increases the role of corporate, legislative and philanthropic efforts in addressing the concerns of Latinos, women, and gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) communities. They fuel their giving to social justice causes within the LGBTQ and Latina/o communities through the profits of their business. Among their many accomplishments, they co-founded PODER PAC, a political action committee by and for Latinas; produced The Latino List 1 & 2; and the OUT List, two experience-based documentaries featured on HBO.
In celebration of Latina/o Heritage & National Coming Out Month, please join Catherine & Ingrid for “Philanthropy at the Corner of Latina & LGBT” as they talk about their journey of giving to and building relationships in the Latina/o and LGBT communities to conquer hatred and bigotry.
