Funder Meet and Greet Reception
Friday, January 31st, 8:30PM
Funders for LGBTQ Issues and the Arcus Foundation host this funder meet-and-greet at Creating Change. This event will be an opportunity for nonprofit leaders to connect with LGBT funders in a structured yet casual environment. Funders for LGBTQ Issues will facilitate short, rotating meetings where nonprofit leaders and foundation staff will have 10 minutes to learn about each other’s work, explore areas of intersection and build relationships. After 10 minutes, the funders will rotate and the conversations will continue with a new combination of participants. We anticipate having five rounds of structured conversations, allowing both funders and movement leaders to make a number of new connections. We ask that no solicitations be made during the event, so as to create an open space for everyone and so that the conversations can focus on getting to know one another’s work. Before and after the rotating meetings, we will host a reception with appetizers and spirits. We hope that combining a casual reception with structured meeting time will result in new relationships for both funders and movement leaders. We will also briefly tell attendees about the work of Funders for LGBTQ Issues and share some of our recent data on LGBTQ philanthropy.

Funding Beyond the Coasts and Urban Cores: Resource Investment in Rural, Suburban, and Remote Regions
Saturday, February 1st, 9:00am-10:30am
What is needed for LGBTQ people in rural, remote, and suburban communities and what is like to fund that work? This workshop aims to elevate the importance of funding emerging and existing issues in non-urban communities. A panel of funders will discuss strategies and investments that have been successful in these geographic areas. Organizations will have the opportunity to think about strategies for increasing funding for LGBT communities beyond the coasts and urban centers. Funders and advocates will explore these ideas together to increase their ability to tackle pressing issues in communities where support is most needed.
